The miniature dachshund, a small hound breed from Germany, boasts short, wirehaired, or longhaired coats and a distinctive long, low body. They are the smaller version of the dachshund breed, with standard dachshunds being larger. Mini dachshunds weigh around 11 pounds or less, compared to the 16 to 32 pounds of standard dachshunds.
