Learn More about Aussiepoo Puppies for Sale

Aussiepoos (also known as Aussiedoodles) are a combination of two other breeds, the Poodle and Australian Shepherd. What is interesting about this breed is that there is a lot of variety in them. This is because they can inherit a variety of different traits from their parents. Typically, the Australian Shepherd is the mother, and the Poodle is the father because of the size of the puppies. However, it depends on the size of the parents. The larger of the two should be the mother for the smoothest pregnancy and birth.

Aussiepoos can vary greatly in size. They typically fall between 25 and 70 pounds. They have a height between 14 and 23 inches. Again, this depends on the size of the parents. A Standard Poodle will produce larger puppies than a Toy Poodle, for example. Aussiepoos have a lifespan of 10 to 12 years. They come in a variety of colors including black, white, cream, tan, and apricot. They can be either single or multicolored.

History of Aussiepoo's Puppies for Sale

In order to talk about the history of the Aussiepoo, you have to start with their ancestors, the Australian Shepherd and the Standard Poodle. Australian Shepherds did not originate in Australia, but they do originate from another Australian breed. They were developed in California in the 1800’s. These dogs were developed from a variety of Australian collies sent to California, alongside sheep from Australia.

The origin of the Standard Poodle is a bit foggier than the Australian Shepherd. There are several theories to how this breed came about, and none have been proven thus far. Some of the countries theorized to have developed the Standard Poodle include Germany, France, Russia, Italy, and Northwest Africa.

The Aussiepoo is a much newer breed than either of its ancestors. It is a designer breed. That said, because it is a mixed breed, it is not officially recognized by the American Kennel Club. Like the Standard Poodle, the exact origin of the Aussiepoo is foggy. It is believed that they developed in the United States within the past 20 years or so.

Aussiepoo Puppies for Sale Temperment

Aussiepoos have incredible personalities. They are very intelligent and easily trainable. It gets this trait from both of its ancestors. Stanley Coren, a PhD psychology researcher, ranked over 100 dog breeds in regard to intelligence. The Poodle is number two on this list. Though the Australian Shepherd falls at number 42 on Coren’s list, both of the breeds are typically ranked among the top three when the American Kennel Club ranks the intelligence of various dog breeds.

In addition to their intelligence, Aussiepoos also have very outgoing and sweet personalities. They get along well with all members of the family and other pets. They are energetic and love to play. Aussiepoos appreciate both mental and physical games to be available. Of course, socialization training does have at least some part to play in this.

Socialization should begin in early puppyhood. Aussiepoos are more influenced by their mothers in early puppyhood than their fathers. So, if possible, make sure you incorporate their mother into this socialization training. You can socialize Aussipoos by introducing them to as many family members and other pets as you can. This includes children as well. Take your Aussiepoo to a dog park frequently to get them used to new faces and new environments. The more you do this when they are puppies, the more well-behaved they will be in adulthood.

Where will the Aussiepoo Dog to buy feel best?

There are two components to an ideal Aussiepoo environment. These are the physical environment and the family environment. Regarding the physical environment, Aussiepoos do best in an average climate. They need temperatures that are not to the extreme in either direction. That said, the most important aspect of an Aussiepoo’s physical environment is the space that they have available.

Aussiepoos are very energetic. They need a lot of space to run around, play, and explore. Ideally, you should have a large home for them with a large backyard. Regardless of what breed you own; it is always recommended to have a fenced in backyard. This is necessary for your dog’s safety, especially in the case of Aussiepoos. Because they are so energetic and social, it is a good possibility that they would blindly go up to other people and animals. This poses obvious dangers because of both environmental hazards and the risk that other people and animals could bring. A fence prevents this from happening.

You will need to make sure you have plenty of toys available to your Aussiepoo. Being such an intelligent breed and a descendent of a herding breed, they often need a task today or they may go stir crazy. Also because of their origin story, Ausiepoos love when they have athletic and outdoor activities available.

As for their family environment, Aussiepoos are adaptable and accepting of any family dynamic. They get along very well with children, other pets, and all family members. The ideal family for an Aussiepoo is a very active one. You should be able to make time for play and exercise, which we will touch on a little later. The best situation for them would be to live with a family that enjoys hiking and playing in the backyard.

Grooming an Aussiepoo Dog for sale

Grooming for Aussiepoos is not standard for every one of them. Because they are a mixed breed, you will need to base the grooming process on the type of coat that they inherit from their parents. For example, Standard Poodles have a dense and curly coat. The reason for this is that they were originally bred to be a water dog. Australian Shepherds, on the other hands, have a silky and wavy coat. Their coat helps to protect them against various environments that they may encounter during their herding jobs. As you can imagine, maintenance varies greatly between these two types.

Let’s start with brushing, since that is the most basic part of grooming. If your Aussiepoo has a dense, curly coat, they will need daily brushing. This prevents matting and also helps to get rid of any dander and debris that builds up in their coat. If your Aussiepoo inherits a wavy and silky coat, you can get by with brushing them on a weekly basis rather than daily. That being said, social breeds like Aussiepoos love daily brushing. This is more of a bonding experience than a chore to them. So, give them what they need, but also appreciate the time you spend together while you do it.

Next up is bathing. Bathing needs also depend on the type of coat your dog has. However, this is not the only determining factor. Another thing to consider is how much time your Aussiepoo spends outside. The more time they spend outside, the more frequently they will need to be bathed. This is discretionary, obviously, and you will need to be mindful of their hygiene to determine how often they need to be bathed. In general, if they are mainly an indoor dog, then you can bathe your Aussiepoo every three to four months. If they spend a lot of time outdoors, which they likely do considering how energetic they are, then you should bathe them every five to six weeks.

When bathing a dog, you need to be mindful of the products that you use. Their skin is more sensitive than ours, so do not use human shampoo on them. You should only use specially formulated dog shampoo.

Your Aussiepoo should also be professionally groomed once every three to four months. This is in addition to the light grooming you do at home. It is also a good idea to learn how to keep the hair around their eyes trimmed. Consult with a professional groomer for advice before you do this.

In addition to their coat, Aussiepoo nails and ears need some attention as well. Australian Shepherds, especially, are prone to ear infections if their ears are not cleaned regularly. Wipe their ears with a cotton ball or soft cloth. You can also use specially formulated medication designed to clean dog ears.

For their nails, you will need to be observant. There is no exact timeline for clipping a dog’s nails. The rate at which their nails grow is both environmental and genetic. Some dog’s nails grow quicker than others. If they are active and spend a lot of time outside, their nails will file down naturally. On the other hand, a dog that spends most of its time indoors won’t have as much opportunity for their nails to file down naturally. Once they start to touch the ground, you should clip them. Make sure you don’t clip too far down on the nail, or you will cause bleeding. This is also painful for your dog. Trim just the tip of the nail.

Exercising an Aussiepoo Dog to Buy

Aussiepoos are very high energy and will need to get daily exercise in order to remain happy and healthy. Like with grooming, the exact needs of your Aussiepoo will vary. Keep an eye on them and their energy levels. You will learn what they need as they grow.

To start, you can estimate that an Aussiepoo needs five minutes of physical exercise for every month old they are. They should get this amount of exercise two times a day. For example, if your Aussiepoo is two months old, they can get 10 minutes of exercise in the morning and 10 minutes of exercise in the evening. Once they reach adulthood, Aussiepoos should get 45 to 60 minutes of exercise twice daily.

Physical exercise could include hiking, walking, a game of fetch, or even just running around with them in the backyard. Keep in mind, too, that these dogs come from a breed designed for water. Swimming and playing in creeks are another great form of exercise. Not all Aussiepoos like water, but it is certainly worth a try. You should also encourage them to socialize during exercise sessions, so trips to the local dog park are a wonderful idea.

Mental exercise is just as important for Aussiepoos as physical exercise, though. You can accomplish this through a variety of games and toys. For example, Aussiepoos like playing hide and seek. You can also get toys that require them to accomplish a task. There are some toys, for instance, that let you hide treats in them, and your dog must figure out how to get to the treat.

Nutrition for an Aussiepoo Dog to Purchase

Kibble is the best bet for proper Aussiepoo nutrition. The main factor here is looking at the ingredients. High-quality kibble should have some type of meat listed in the top three ingredients. The fewer grains the kibble has the better. Grains are not helpful for dogs, especially energetic breeds like the Aussiepoo. There are dry foods specifically formulated for large, athletic breeds. This is what you should seek out for your Aussiepoo.

Also make sure they are eating age-appropriate foods. Puppy food typically has a higher protein content that food made for adults. Aussiepoo puppies will also need smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. After they wean from their mother’s milk, puppies should eat three to four times throughout the day. Adults should eat twice a day. Consult with your veterinarian to determine how much they should eat in a single sitting.

Aussiepoos are prone to digestive problems. One way to prevent this from occurring is by adding a small amount of yogurt to their food. Because this is designed for human consumption mainly, you should ask your veterinarian for advice before adding it. Yogurt both eases digestion and works as a probiotic, which keeps your Aussiepoo healthier overall. You can also get bowls designed to slow down eating if you notice that your dog eats too fast.

Because Aussiepoos are athletic, they should always have a fresh supply of water available to them. Encourage them to drink plenty, especially after they exercise. Use a metal bowl since plastic bowls can leak chemicals into the water, which causes a variety of health problems. You should also change out the water on a daily basis.
