The Shetland Sheepdog, or Sheltie, is an intelligent and obedient herder from Scotland's Shetland Islands. Resembling the Collie, Shelties are small, standing 13 to 16 inches tall, with a dense coat in various colors. They excel in obedience, agility, and herding trials, and make sensitive and affectionate family dogs. Shelties are also excellent watchdogs with a tendency to bark and be reserved around strangers.
