Buying a Puppy From Charlotte, North Carolina

Begin above. The puppies shown on this page are the ones with us at the moment, and the list changes through the week as new arrivals reach the floor. Shortlist two or three, because the puppy that suits you is often the one you had ranked second.

Then book a video call. On a call our team carries a phone down to the puppy and lets you watch it move, play, get startled by something and recover. You will learn more in ten minutes of that than in fifty photographs — how quickly it settles, whether it seeks people out, how it handles a littermate stealing its toy. Ask for close-ups of the coat if grooming matters to you, and ask what the puppy is like at eight in the morning as well as at two in the afternoon.

Choosing a Breed That Fits Charlotte Living

Housing shapes this decision more than anything else. Ask about adult size, grooming intervals and grooming cost. And ask what the puppy has already been introduced to: car journeys, crates, stairs, other dogs.

Sorting the Money Out Before You Travel

Payment plans are available through our financing partner, covering the puppy along with food and supplies bought in store. Apply from home before you set off, review the quote with a pet counselor when you arrive, and finish the contract in store the same day. Plans suit a spread of credit histories and some ask for little or nothing down, with the lender deciding your amount and terms. Planning the Journey Home

Bring a crate or a secured carrier and set it up before the puppy goes in. Bring an old towel, water and a bowl, and a bag for accidents. Plan a stop every couple of hours for a leg stretch on a leash, on grass, away from other dogs until vaccinations are complete. Feed lightly before travelling rather than generously — a full puppy in a moving car rarely ends well. Two adults make the drive far easier than one, because somebody can sit within reach of the crate.

Expect the first night at home to be broken. A puppy that has just left its littermates will protest the quiet, and the answer is a crate beside your bed, a consistent routine and patience for about a week.
